OK, so this mama (yes, another Kate!) is terribly clever, creative, has 4 kids and a successful business. Oh, and she is beautiful. So, once we move past the green with envy stage (teheehee), we celebrate her! Meet Kate from Miss Kiki of Cherry Blossom Lane …
Tell us a bit about you, fabulous you!
I am Kate, a 33 year old Mum of 4 and married to a most amazing man for almost 15 years. We live in a beautiful, quiet, lush suburb in Adelaide with our 4 children Jai (9), Brady (7), Charlie (5) and Nikia Evie (2).
After leaving a pretty demanding career in HR to raise our family, I have since founded Miss Kiki of Cherry Blossom Lane; our brand creates a collection of entirely artisan handcrafted 1 of a kind petite designer cloth dolls. I thought it would be lovely for children all over the globe to have their very own unique 1 of a kind doll and almost 2 years on we have welcomed new artisans to the business to meet the demand to our stores both nationally and internationally.
It is quite surreal but very humbling and I feel so blessed to be able to be present with my young family whilst creating for yours. I have a penchant for all things of an old English life – I was clearly born in the wrong era and yes I often wear pearls with jeans and flats, purely because they are fancy!
Who inspires you?
All of the beautiful people around me; my husband, family and friends are so supportive and encouraging of the success I still deem my “little venture” and their encouragement inspires me to aim high and give 100% to everything I do.
My parents are the foundation of love and such a wonderful example of ‘family’ and I am forever grateful for their love and guidance. Professionally, I am inspired by those who have been on a similar path to which I am currently travelling and have achieved great success, and use their position to then make a definable difference in the community. Very early on we formed partnerships with charity organisations as this is something I set out to do. Humility is beautiful.
What can’t you live without?
Prayer …and tea. There daren’t be a minute of the day a warm cup doesn’t mould to the palm of my hand. I love tea. My family are pretty amazing too! In my honesty though, I would not be where I am without my faith and everything I do is guided thereby. I feel really blessed to be where I am today.
Do you have a favourite blog/s?
I’ve not really afforded the time to venture much into the blogging world, my own is quite neglected I must say. I tend to find some great posts by default and follow them through for a good read, but I cannot say I follow any in particular.
How do you like to spend your spare time?
With family and friends, just being out in the sunshine with people I love fills my heart with warmth. In the warmer weather we have frequent dinner parties with friends, and I love to read when the time affords me.
Best time saving or sanity saving idea/tip for mamas?
Lists. I am apparently the Queen of lists and sticky notes! Admittedly I am rather pedantic when it comes to being organised but a huge sense of achievement comes from being able to cross things off lists and in advance too. I also find preparing tomorrow’s work the previous evening helps things to move smoothly the following day as half an hour is not wasted in considering the tasks for the day in the morning. As for sanity – tea. Lots and LOTS of cups of tea.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In a studio full of beautiful, creative people enjoying their flexible career. I’d love to take some of our artisans on a global trip to visit our Australian and international stores and also visit the girls in Thailand that we work with to create our Destiny Rescue charity dolls.
What is your favourite quote?
Everything happens for a reason and right here in this moment is exactly where we are meant to be, be content with this.
Where can we find you?
You can find us on facebook and on our website.
You’ll also find these gorgeous hand made dollies now in our little store.
